I love Valentine's Day. I guess I love it even more now that I am a mom and wife of the world's best husband.  No, my life isn't perfect but I am pretty blessed.  So when it comes to Valentine's Day I need some great Valentine's Day gift ideas. I want my family to know that I really love them and that they are special to me.

This can be tricky. Sure, I may want terrific Valentine's Day gift ideas and I would love to surprise my husband with a fishing trip to Alaska, or take our kids to Disneyland but the truth is that will probably never be a reality.  Not this month or next.  But who needs a huge, expensive Valentine's Day gift basket?  Hmmmmm.   And the problem with candy is just that?  Do we really need more candy?  Flowers wither and die and besides my husband has allergies.  So after much thinking and brainstorming I have come up with some simple, fun, Valentine's Day gift ideas that are inexpensive and hopefully will make this February 14th extra special.

Plan a family scavenger hunt.  This can be a blast.  There are love signs and messages all over your town.  Find them and have your family go from place to place.  Maybe they have to get a hot cross buns or a heart shaped pizza.  You can also do a love digital hunt. Have your family take photos of them hugging a local statue, kissing a goat, snuggling a teddy bear''''the ideas are endless.

Make a RED dinner. This is fun and really easy.  Red Jello, red velvet cake mix, red food die for meat loaf and mashed potatoes, and red beets, with red punch make a fun and easy red meal.  You can cut out placemats from red construction paper and even create settings for each person.  Write a personal note or poem by each person letting them know how loved they are and the things you appreciate about them.

So, there you go.  There are a few ideas to get your ideas spinning.  It is so important to pause and truly let the people you love, be it they may drive you crazy too, but let them know this Valentine's Day how much you love them, and have fun doing it.
