
Dosage and Indications
Otilonium Bromide is offered in tablet form in a 40 mg dose. This medicine is available in the market under the brand name Spasmoctyl® 40. This drug is used to treat dyskinesias and gastrointestinal spasm including spasms of the ureter, biliary tract, dysmenorrhoea and renal colic). This drug is also helpful in peptic ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome, in gastrointestinal radiography.
Otilonium Dosage Instructions
One tablet has been recommended as the usual dose given as twice or three times a day. The patient must take the pill just about 20 minutes prior to meals along with a half glass of water. The treatment can be continued as maximum as four weeks. If the symptoms reappear, the patient should be evaluated for a new treatment.
Elderly Dosage
Even if Otilonium has less anticholinergic properties, the elderly patient may be sensitive to usual doses of anticholinergics and may develop adverse
effects such as drowsiness, agitation, or confusion. Other adverse effects may also occur including constipation, urinary retention, dry mouth, and
deposition undiagnosed glaucoma.
Child Dosage
This drug may be hazardous for infants and toddlers. They are at higher risk for unfavorable effects of anticholinergics, in particular those who have
